Loading ...At the end of Q3, global sales of carmaker Automobile Dacia stood at 165,501 units, up 12 percent in comparison with the same period of the previous year, when some 148,000 motor vehicles were sold.
Dacia's growth boost was the demand for personal vehicles by almost 12.7 percent higher than in 2006. Thus, in the interval January – September 2007, sales of Logan sedan and Logan MCV reached 156,594 units.
Sales of small-size utility vehicles registered just a moderate advance of 0.3 percent to 8,907 units between January – September this year.
In Q3, worldwide Dacia sales went up 20 percent to 53,145 units, whereas 44,000 units had been registered the year before.
Local sales in Romania, which – in the first three quarters of the year – was the car producer's main outlet, stood at 74,818 units. At the same time, Renault attained 23,992 delivered vehicles.
With over 98,000 sold vehicles (Dacia + Renault), Romania was the sixth market by size for Renault group brands, being outpaced by France (485,000 units sold), Spain (148,000), Great Britain (120,000), Germany (115,000) and Italy (108,000).
On the other hand, in the first nine months of the year, Romania reported the highest Renault market share (38.6 percent) of the top ten countries ranked by sales, superior to France (24.8 percent) or Turkey (15 percent), reveals the Renault report cited by Bursa daily.
Dacia, the major Romanian car maker, came into being in 1966, when the Mioveni-based Automobile Plant was established. In 1999 Renault acquired 51 percent of the company capital under the privatisation process and controls today 99.43 percent thereof.
At the end of 2006, Renault's investments at Dacia amounted to 772 million euro, reads the webpage of the Romanian car producer.
The Mioveni-based Dacia plant spreads on a surface of 2,900,000 sqm and produces the Logan model in three versions: Logan sedan, Logan MCV and Logan VAN.
