Loading ...The mobile telephony operator Cosmote has topped three million customers in Romania in less than two years since it has been working on the market, informed the above-mentioned operator.
To mark this event Cosmote will offer three million free text messages in the above-mentioned network for the members of the National Association of the Deaf in Romania. It has over 30,000 hearing-impaired members in Romania. Concurrently with the increase in the market share and in the demand for its products and services, Cosmote estimates it will attain its financial aims announced for Romania, namely a positive EBITDA operational profit (the gain before the payment of interests, taxes, the inclusion of the depreciation and amortization) in 2008 and a net profit in 2009.
In the first half of this year the revenues of Cosmote Romania exceeded 63.6 million euros, by 4.5 times higher than in the similar span of time last year, when the said company posted 14 million euros in revenues. The losses decreased from 30.5 million euros in the first part of last year to 18.6 million euros in late June 2007.
According to Cosmote Romania the net losses in the fist six months of the year decreased by more than a half, from 44.9 million euros in 2006 to 20.7 million euros in the first six months of this year.
Cosmote Romania is currently the operator having the most dynamic evolution of the number of customers on the telecommunications market in Romania, with almost one million users in the first half of 2007 and a market share of about 11 percent.
The penetration rate of mobile telephony in Romania topped 90 percent in the middle of this year, the number of users of the mobile telephony services amounting to 19.5 million. The operators having the largest number of customers are Orange and Vodafone.
