1 decembrie 2007

Information in English

Foreign direct investments topped 5 billion euros January through September this year, that is an increase by only 3 percent on the same interval last year, according to data released by the Romanian National Bank (BNR).

The foreign investments switch on an upward trend again, for the first time this year, due to such injections worth almost 1 billion euros in September, one of the highest levels after 1990.

The official estimates for the entire year 2007 point to foreign investments worth some 7 billion euros (compared with 9.1 billion in 2006). Nevertheless, while not taking into account the privatisation of the Romanian Commercial Bank (BCR), the direct foreign investments stood at 6.9 billion euros last year.

According to BNR, half of the investments of 5 billion attracted January through September represent capital participations and reinvested profit, with the other half representing intra-group credits.
