Loading ...The map of privatisations in the energy sector to be made in 2008 should be finished by the end of this year, Ministry of Economy and Finance Varujan Vosganian told a press conference on November 20.
He also added that he met chairman of the State Assets Realization Authority (AVAS), Teodor Atanasiu on Monday, with whom he discussed the need to make a precise inventory of all the units in the energy sector which can be put up for privatisation.
“While 2007 has been the year of energy strategies, of the energy market upgrading and of Transgaz listing on the Bucharest Stock Exchange, the year 2008 is to be the year of the privatisations in the energy sector,” Vosganian said.
The Economy Minister also mentioned the units with a difficult financial situation, such as the thermal power plants in Borzesti, Doicesti and Botosani, saying they need larger survival and upgrading programmes and programmes to make them profitable, while in the Termoelectrica case he explained the company recorded profit in 2007, although it has significant debts from the previous years.
Moreover, the minister mentioned the interest for the hydropower sector, explaining that there are to be sold 100 hydropower plants up to 100 MW. Vosganian said that there are also offers received to modernize the dams.
