28 ianuarie 2008

Information in English

Austrian maker of electric components for the auto industry Hirschman Automotive is to lay off 120 people from its plant in Rankweil-Brederis, Austria, with part of the production lines to be moved from this plant to the company’s facilities in the Czech Republic and Romania, international press agencies quoted manager of the company Volker Buth as saying on January 18.

Some of the production lines in Rankweil will be moved to Hirschman plant in Vsetin, the Czech Republic, some others will go to Hirschman plant in Targu Mures, Romania, which are scheduled to start activity in the coming weeks. According to Buth, the rise in competition in the market of components for the auto industry requires a cut in costs by moving production from areas with high costs, such as Vorarlberg, in western Austria.

Hirschman Automotive currently employs some 1,400 people at its plants in Rankweil, the Czech Republic and Romania.
