Loading ...The National Agency for Direct Foreign Investments (ARIS) expects this year some 7 bln euro in direct foreign investments, a level somewhat similar to that registered in 2007, adviser with the Foreign Investments Promotion Department Oana Nisioi told Rompres.
The agency also expects a significant amount of greenfield investments, especially in sectors with high value-added, but also sees capital inflows in the expansion and development of investors already present in Romania.
"We expect significant foreign investments to be directed towards the automotive and car spares business, building materials, wood processing, pharmaceuticals, non-durables and electronics.
Another field with a high capital absorption potential is that of services, mainly IT and telecom, banks and insurance," added the ARIS adviser.
Nisioi added that in the last years, investments in renewable energy witnessed a spectacular evolution, encouraged by the provisions of European norms that require this energy type to be used in a considerable percentage. According to ARIS representatives, the sectors that witnessed in the last years strong growth, such as retail and real estate, will advance at a similar pace.
In 2007, ARIS monitored investment projects worth three billion euro of which projects worth one billion euro have been completed.
The ARIS vice-president was recently estimating that in 2007 Romania attracted some 7 billion euro in foreign direct investments.
