Information in English

The Craiova-based state-owned Heat and Power Plant (CE) won the bid for the supply of electricity to the largest company in Romania, Petrom, under a contract estimated at some 116 million euro a year.

The state-owned producer’s energy bid outdid European giants like Italy’s ENEL, the Czech CEZ or E.ON Germany, that lost to the Romanian energy supplier it the bid organised by Petrom.

Sources close to the talks, cited by Business Standard, said that starting April 1, the Craiovabased company will supply some 1.85 TWh to Petrom, 1.15 TWh to the exploration and production department and starting July 1 – about 0.7 TWh to Doljchim and Arpechim. The same sources said that the contract is worth over 422 million lei (some 116 million euro) a year.

Petrom officials did not comment on the subject, but CE Craiova director-general Ion Dinulescu confirmed that the facility under his conduct was awarded the energy supply contract in the two bids organised by Petrom – one for the exploration and production division – the other for Doljchim chemical plant and the Arpechim refinery.

The Petrobrazi refinery has an electricity generating capacity of 50 MW.
