Commercial exchanges between Romania and Turkey will go up to $10 billion in the time ahead, from a current $7 billion, Turkey’s President Abdullah Gul told a Romanian Turkish Business Forum on March 3 in Bucharest.

Likewise, the commercial exchanges should to be ensured through a connection line between Constanta and Istanbul, Gul added.

"The larger the commercial exchanges are, the more favorable the circumstances of such exchanges should become," Gul said.

At the same time, Gul stressed that Turkey would be interested in using the Danube River for foreign trade.

In his turn, Chairman of Turkey’s Chamber of Commerce Rihat Hisarciklioglu said that Romania and Turkey would cooperate in ten projects of utmost importance, stressing that 40,000 Romanians visited Turkey in 2007.

Turkish investment in Romanian privatizations amounts to 37 million euros, and Turkey is ranked 10th among the countries participating in privatizations, says Deputy Chairman of the State Assets Realization Authority AVAS, the privatization authority, Laszlo Gyurko.

Over 150 Turkish businessmen attended the Romanian-Turkish Business Forum.
