Romania’s chance in the area of agriculture is connected to the capability of farmers to get together and work in association, Agriculture Minister Dacian Ciolos told the launching ceremony of Romania’s National Rural Development Programme (PNDR) at Stanesti, Giurgiu County.

"If Romanian farmers could launch joint investment projects, they will make use of the opportunities on the Romanian market for selling their products, as well as the similar opportunities on the European market," said Ciolos.

Ciolos added that PNDR is a well-structured programme, easy to carry out and comprising all that has to be modernized in the rural areas of Romania.

"This programme has been simplified as far as project preparations and applications are concerned, and there is a highly performing co-funding system that we have learned from the Farmer and SAPARD programmes," said Ciolos. He mentioned that PNDR will be adjusted in the future to take into account the farmers’ demands and requests for clarifications.
