Employers aided by law to hire students in their summer vacation

Every employer hiring high school or university students during their summer vacation receives a state incentive equal to half of the minimum wage per economy, namely approximately 250 lei (some 70 euros), according to a normative act adopted last year.
But employers failed to use this method to fill in their vacancies, either due to not knowing that such a law exists, or because the hiring has just a two-month duration, at the most, Adevarul daily reads on June 16.
 
A field where youth could find employment is tourism, and seasonal employment is more often met and high school and university students are more inclined to work here in the summer. Despite all these, just four requests submitted by travel industry employers were received by Constanta
 
Employement Agncy (south-east), who expressed their willingness to hire youth in their school vacation. Constanta agency director Dragos Poteleanu thinks that the employers’ lack of interest is also generated by the fact that the law entered into force last year, after the summer vacation’s start and is not yet well known.
 
In her turn, president of the Light Industry Employers Federation Maria Grapini says that the field it represents welcomes this opportunity, of hiring students during their summer vacation, because the employer can know, test and recruit the labour force it needs.
 
"Up to now, my company employed students on scholarships and we offered them training stages. This year, I plan to hire on the basis of this new law, but the request should come from the students themselves", underlined Grapini.
