President Traian Basescu will attend on Thursday and Friday in Brussels the meeting of the European Council, the Presidential Administration informed Rompres in a release.
The main goal of the meeting will be a debate on the future European construction, the situation after the referendum in Ireland on the Lisbon Treaty, as well as the measures to be taken for the next stage. The officials will also discuss about the impact of the significant increase in prices at food and fuel at European and international level.
The agenda includes debate on issues such as energy and climatic changes, EU's cooperation with third states on migration, international cooperation for development (European efforts needed to attain the Millennium's Development Goals), regional issues, such as political evolutions in the Western Balkans, the eastern dimension of the neighborhood policy or the Euro-Mediterranean partnership.
The agenda also includes further debates at European level for the improvement of social inclusion of the Rroma community.
On Thursday, President Basescu is to attend as guest the works of the European People's Party Summit.
