Loading ...Thursday, June 26 2008, at the Patriarchal Residence of Bucharest, under the presidency of His Beatitude Daniel, Patriarch of the Romanian Orthodox Church and Locum Tenens of Archbishop of Craiova and of Metropolitan of Oltenia, took place the working session of the Metropolitan Synod of the Oltenia Metropolitanate, followed by the special consulting session with members of the Eparchial Gathering of the Craiova Archdiocese, with clergy and laymen from the other eparchies of the Oltenia Metropolitanate, delegates at the National Church Gathering from the other eparchies within the Oltenia Metropolitanate, for the designation of candidates for the vacant see of Archbishop of Craiova and Metropolitan of Oltenia.
The Metropolitan Synod has designated, by anonymous voting, Right Rev. Vincentiu of Ploiesti, Patriarchal vicar, and Right Rev. Irineu of Slatina, vicar of the Ramnic Episcopate. Following consultations, the Eparchial Gathering of the Craiova Archdiocese, with clergy and laymen from the other eparchies of the Oltenia Metropolitanate, delegates at the National Church Gathering from the other eparchies within the Oltenia Metropolitanate, have decided to submit to the Holy Synod of the Romanian Orthodox Church for the election of the new Archbishop of Craiova and Metropolitan of Oltenia the same two hierarchs, Right Rev. Vincentiu of Ploiesti, Patriarchal vicar, and Right Rev. Irineu of Slatina, vicar of the Ramnic Episcopate.
The new Archbishop of Craiova and Metropolitan of Oltenia will be chosen during the next session of the Holy Synod of the Romanian Orthodox Church, set to take place on July 8-9 2008.
