Loading ...Petrom’s main assets, i.e. crude oil reserves, two refineries – Petrobrazi and Arpechim, and petrol station network are currently worth over 35 billion dollars (21.8 billion euros), two and a half times more than a year ago, according to a report issued by Raiffeisen Centrobank Austria (RCB) on the stock of OMV group, Petrom’s majority shareholder.
RCB analysts forecast that OMV’s assets (excluding stakes in other companies) are worth 30.2 billion dollars (18.8 billion euros). Petrom’s highest-value assets are its petroleum and natural gas reserves, the value of which has significantly risen over the last year amid a twofold increase in oil prices.
Petrom’s crude oil and gas reserves are currently forecast at 27.2 billion dollars (around 17 billion euros), up from 10 billion dollars a year ago. Petrom has 1.435 billion barrels of oil and natural gas, which RCB analysts have put at an average price of 19 dollars/barrel. In comparison,
OMV’s reserves revolve around 601 million barrels, forecast at 11.4 billion dollars (7.1 billion euros).
When assessing Petrom’s reserves, Raiffeisen analysts have considered "proved plus probable reserves" (2P), which are conservative estimates as to their likelihood of being produced, unlike "proved plus possible plus probable", a more optimistic estimate. The two Petrom refineries have also seen their value more than double over the last year, from 2.8 billion dollars to 6.52 billion dollars (4 billion euros), whilst its petrol station network is worth almost 1.3 billion dollars (0.8 billion euros).
