Gerovital product range, 80 pc of Farmec Co. exports

Farmec Co. from Cluj-Napoca (center north-west), the biggest Romanian cosmetics producer, estimates that approximately 60% of the budget on 2009 will be allocated to investments in research and to Gerovital brand promotion.
 
Gerovital brand accounts for 18% of the overall company’s turnover and 80% of the total exports to 40 countries, among which Hungary, Poland, Serbia, England, Austria, Belgium, Denmark, Switzerland, Finland, Germany, Italy, Spain, The Netherlands, United Arab Emirates, Kuwait, Lebanon, Jordan, Thailand, Japan, USA and Canada.
 
In 2007, Gerovital range of products’ sales on the domestic market stood at some two million euros.
 
In the first five months of the year, the company posted a turnover of 9.4 million euros. For 2008, the company is targeting a turnover in excess of 24 million euros, 15% higher than in 2007, when it achieved 21.5 million euros. Last year, investments in the introduction of new technologies and modernization of research laboratories exceeded the amount of 3.5 million euros.
 
The company’s general manager Liviu Turdean told Rompres on July 9 that the recent transaction between Farmec and Gerovital Cosmetics (Miraj) involved the transfer of all rights upon the brands that contain "Gerovital", "Aslan", "Ana Aslan", "GC" words or their combinations from Gerovital Cosmetics patrimony to Farmec SA, in exchange of 1.2 million euros.
 
Farmec Cluj-Napoca produced the first Gerovital cream in 1968. Its production continued uninterruptedly for 40 years and, starting with 2008, all the rights upon Gerovital H3 brand are exclusively held by Farmec Co., pointed out the general manager.
