Romania accounts for 0.7 pct of EU exports

Romania accounted for 0.7% of the total European Union exports last year, that is the same figure as in 2006, according to a report of the Statistical Office of the European Communities (Eurostat).
 
The lowest weight in the EU overall export was recorded by Malta and Latvia, at 0.1%, with the highest values having been recorded by Germany (27.5%), Italy (11.6%), France (11.4%) and UK (10.8%). Bulgaria accounted for 0.4% of the EU exports last year, while Hungary stood for 1.2%.
 
Romania’s contribution to the exchanges inside the EU stood at 21.1 billion euros in 2007, showing thus an upward trend on the value of 18.2 billion euros recorded in 2006. Exchanges inside the European Union stood at 2,642.5 billion euros in 2006.
 
Romania’s imports stood for 1% of the EU imports in 2007, showing a downward trend compared with 1.1% in 2006. The EU’s biggest importer is Germany, with a weight in the total EU imports of 18.8%. The states with the lowest contributions to the EU imports were Malta and Cyprus, each with 0.1%.
