Loading ...Romanian director Nae Caranfil's film The Rest is Silence is to represent Romania at the U.S. Academy Awards, the 2009 edition. The film is to participate in the foreign film section, reads a release of the Romanian National Centre of Cinematography to Agerpres on Thursday.
The jury made up of film critics Madga Mihailescu, Cristina Corciovescu, Dana Duma, Eugenia Voda, Mihai Chirilov, Eugen Atanasiu and director Dinu Tanase decided that the film will be the one to represent Romania at the famous film competition to take place in February 2009 in Hollywood.
The film is considered by his author 'a love story between the artist and the producer, between art and money.'
The script of the film had won the Great Prize for the Best Script in the International Film Festival in Paris in 1995 and ranked 2nd in the Hartly&Merrill International Scriptwriting Competition, Los Angeles, 1999.
The official premiere took place in March 2008.
Playing in the film are actors Marius Florea Vizante, Ovidiu Niculescu, Mirela Zeta, Gruia Sandu, Valentin Popescu, Nicu Mihoc, Silviu Biris, Patru Gavril, Vlad Zamfirescu, Samuel Tastet, Florin Zamfirescu, Alexandru Hasnan, with the extraordinary participation of actress Ioana Bulca.
The budget of the production stood at 2.4 million euros, with this being the most expensive Romanian film in the last 25 years.
