Loading ...Bucharest general mayor Sorin Oprescu announced on Friday he ordered an analysis of some investment contracts former general mayor Adriean Videanu had signed.
Thus, he answered the questions asked by journalists, who had information according to which some works were stopped because of lack of payment.
'I haven't stopped any payment simply because I made no payment. I had nothing to stop. I have been analyzing some contracts which seemed fishy to me, but as you can never take a step only because ‘it seems' or you have ‘heard it might be' fishy, I wanted the contracts to be investigated,' Oprescu said.
I have signed all the current payment orders of the contracts which meant small amounts compared with the general ones the works involved, the Bucharest General Mayor said, adding that in his opinion the contracts have very many illegalities.
'The rehabilitating company is also responsible for the guarantee, and it is the consultant at the same time, it is the company which carries out the maintenance work. Anyway, the figures are very high and I am fully responsible when I say that they are figures granted to the consultants. I haven't searched all the shady sides of this consultancy because I can still see un-repaired streets and nobody ‘consults' them, some of the consultants are doctors with no stethoscope,' mayor Oprescu said.
