At the end of June 2008, broad money (M3) stood at RON 161.495 bln (some 44.86 bln euro), up 2.5 pct (2.2 in real terms) from May 2008 and by 38.9 pct (27.9 pct in real terms) higher compared to June 2007, as show the monetary indicators published on July 23 by the National Bank of Romania (BNR).
Net foreign assets decreased in June 21 pct to RON 16.16 bln. This evolution was the effect of the 33.9 pct decrease in the “Forex” component and of the 4.6 pct rise in the “Gold” component, due to the re-assessment of the gold stock.
Net domestic assets advanced 6 pct to RON 145.335 bln.
