Loading ...Ford Europe is to set up a national sales company in Romania which, since August 2010, is to take over the entire responsibility of the activities of marketing, sales and service for Ford vehicles from Romcar SRL, the company informs in a release remitted on July 31.
The setting up of this company in Romania represents a logical step for Ford following the steady growth of Ford sales in the past years and of the taking over of the car plant in Craiova (south), the release stressed.
In the past 16 years, Romcar SRL has been the authorized importer for Ford vehicles and components in Romania. Representatives of both companies are to outline a detailed plan in order to ensure a smooth transition for their clients.
The new national sales company for Romania is to be managed by Vladimir Vosicky, previously executive director for Ford in the Czech Republic and will have its headquarters in Bucharest.

Romcar SRL will continue to be the authorized importer of Ford vehicles and components until July 31, 2010. Following this date, all the authorized dealers of Ford Co. in Romania will conclude a new contract with Ford Motor Company.
“Given the 38% rise in Ford vehicle sales in the first half of 2008 and the fact that, next year, the production will be launched at our Craiova plant, we have entered an extremely interesting period for Ford in Romania”, said Peter Fleet, director of the European Sales Department of Ford Europe.

According to the last statistics on the market, in the first half of 2008 Ford ranked third in the top of the best sold imported brands.
Ford Europe has the headquarters in Cologne, Germany and, at present, it has 21 national sales companies, the one in Romania becoming the 22nd. The most recently set up company of this type is Ford Russia, in 2000.
