“Given that the majority of producers, and consumers as well, re-orient themselves towards this new recent technology, an ever increasing number of this kind of products will be surely found on the shelf and, therefore, there is a higher sales growth potential”, Raul Filip, retail director of Altex Romania told the aforementioned daily.
According to him, consumers will migrate in the upcoming period from outdated products to full HD technology because “more and more TV channels will start to broadcast according to this standard”, said Bogdan Gheorghiu, marketing director of Panasonic Romania.
Prices erosion is to also contribute to the increase in high technology products sales, they dropping by more than 30% in a year. “Prices of full HD plasma TV sets, for the models at the entrance range, declined from some 8,000 lei (some 2,485 euros) in august 2007 to almost 5,000 lei (some 1,370 euros) in July 2008. It is a drop of 37% in the local currency prices”, underlined Panasonic Romania representative.
