Loading ...President Traian Basescu appreciated on August 8 China’s efforts directed to the development of the Romanian-Chinese relations, especially aimed at striking a balance in its trade with Romania.
The Romanian head of state, present in Beijing, in order to participate in the opening ceremony of the Olympic Games, has met his Chinese counterpart Hu Jintao, Xinhua reports.
In this context, Traian Basescu hailed the consolidation of cooperation relations between Romania and China in all activity fields, a year ahead of the celebration of 60 years of bilateral diplomatic relations.

In his turn, Hu Jintao stated that his country views Romania as an important partner and appreciates Romania’s role and influence within the European Union.
As for the links between China and Romania, the Chinese President said that year 2009, “when 60 years since the establishment of Chinese-Romanian diplomatic relations will be marked, must represent a landmark as regards the development of cooperation relations” between the two states.
Hu Jintao appreciated the obvious preoccupation of Traian Basescu and Romania in the wake of the earthquake, which hit the Sichuan province in China, in May. All these demonstrate that Romania is a close friend of the Chinese people, concluded the Chinese head of state.
