Loading ...The hypermarkets in Romania in 2009 will have specialized sections displaying Romanian ecological produce, said vice-president of the Association of Operators in Ecological Agriculture Bio Romania Damian Draghici on September 13.
„We have had demands from such hypermarkets as Selgros, Metro, Carrefour, and even from the chains of petrol stations, but for the time being we cannot honour the demand as the production is not that big. I think that, starting in 2009, you are going to see the first sections displaying Romanian ecological produce in these stores,” said the Bio Romania representative.
He made it clear that if Romania had an important enough production of ecological produce as raw material, the European and national funds that can be drawn would contribute to the growth of the proportion of processed ecological produce, but it would be a small growth.
The Bio Romania Association aims at ensuring the observance of the production standards for the ecological produce as well as the way they are sold. It also plans to extend the presence of the Romanian ecological produce in schools too.
