Loading ...The economic situation in the European Union and the way in which the global economic context can affect the developments in the member states were the main topics tackled by President Traian Basescu and European Commissioner for Multilingualism Romanian Leonard Orban during a meeting at the presidential Cotroceni Palace on September 16.
Basescu and Orban discussed about the EU institutional developments amid the uncertainty surrounding the Lisbon Treaty and reviewed the possible scenarios by which the current situation may be overcome, the Presidential Administration said in a press release.
„Commissioner Leonard Orban also spoke about his activity within the European Commission’s college, according to the first portfolio held by a Romanian representative, as well as about the prospects for the recruitment and promotion of other Romanian staff in the European institutions”, the release says.
Orban has been paying a 2 day official visit to Romania. On the first day of the visit on Monday he took part, alongside Prime Minister Calin Popescu-Tariceanu, in roundtable debates on the Implementation of the National Reform Programme in Line with the Priorities of the Lisbon Strategy. The European commissioner also met on Monday State Secretary at the European Affairs Department Aurel Ciobanu Dordea.
