Reactors 1 and 2 of the Cernavoda Nuclear Power Plant (southeastern Romania) produced in this August a quantity of electricity of more than 1.026 million MWh, of which 942,149 MWh was delivered to the national energy system, show figures made public by operator Nuclearelectrica on its Web site.
Cernavoda supplied more than 4.716 million MWh to the system in the first half-year, up from 2.831 million MWh by mid-2007.
The power plant’s reactor 1 produced last year 6.005 million MWh and supplied 5.518 million MWh to the national energy system, at a capacity of 97.62%.
Moreover, Unit 1 supplied each year some 60,000 to 80,000 giga calories for the heating of the Cernavoda industrial platform consumers and the Cernavoda town household consumers (accounting for some 50% of the demand).
Unit 2 was commissioned on Oct. 5, 2007.
The electrical energy produced at Cernavoda’s Units 1 and 2 annually accounts for about 18% of the total Romanian energy output.
