Hidroelectrica the biggest energy maker on the local market will revise its revenues and expenditure budget for this year, viewing a profit worth 28.5 – 34 million euros at rectified revenues of almost 650 million euros, Company’s general manager Traian Oprea told the Business Standard daily.
Comparatively, Hidroelectrica earned a gross profit worth 19.8 million euros and revenues worth 617 million euros in end 2007. The Company expects to put out about 16.8 TWh this year, by 6% more than last year, which is almost the average hydrological level.
Hidroelectrica earned a gross turnover of about 62.6 million euros, in the first half of 2008, namely almost four times more than over the same time span last year.
Repairs costs and investments have gone up in the second half of the year, Oprea explained the drop expected in the Company’s profit.
The Company’s investment budget this year is similar to that of last year, namely 328.5 million euros representing over 50% of the revenues, Oprea said.
Hidroelectrica plans to invest 6 billion euros by 2025, and 1.2 billion of it from loans and the remainder from the Company’s revenues. The money is aimed at increasing the Company’s installed capacity up to 2,6000 MW, 5.8 TWh per year, respectively.
The Company put out 13.3 TWh till Sept 25 while the Danube’s flow was beneath 60% of the multi-annual average level, for longer than one month. Comparatively, Hidroelectica put out 15.8 TWh last year, which represents 26% of the electricity production on the Romanian market. Portile de Fier (the Iron Gates) Hydropower station (south) supplied 41% of Hidroelectrica’s electricity.
According to the current plans of the incumbent Government, Hidroelectrica will join a state-run electricity company also including Turceni and Rovinari co-generating power stations (both south) and Electrica electricity maker and supplier.
The Government strategies plan the newly integrated company to be listed with both the Bucharest Stock Exchange (BVB) and the London Stock Exchange.
Nuclearelectrica operator of Cernavoda (south east) is the second biggest electricity maker onthe Romanian market, putting out about 18 TWh.
