The National Bank of Romania should intervene in case the exchange rate of the euro currency will exceed the level of 3.85 lei, Misu Negritoiu, general manager of ING Romania told a TV show on October 3.
„The National Bank of Romania will intervene at an exchange rate for one euro of 3.85 lei. The reason for which the level will not be exceeded is that the intervention of the central bank is expected, which is crucial for the exchange rate,” said Misu Negritoiu, according to whom an exchange rate of 3.8 lei for one euro would be realistic, a balanced exchange rate.
The exchange rate of the euro currency exceeded in the morning of October 3 on the interbank market the level of 3.87, whereas the exchange rate announced on Thursday by the National Bank of Romania is of 3.7603 lei for one euro.
The National Commission for Economic Projection has recently revised upwards in the preliminary autumn forecast, the average exchange rate for the single European currency to 3.63 lei for 2008, compared to the 3.55 lei for one euro estimated in the spring variant.
In 2009 the average exchange rate for one euro is estimated on 3.55 lei, in 2010 at 3.47 lei, in 2011 at 3.4 lei, in 2012 at 3.35 lei.
