Romanian Prime Minister Calin Popescu-Tariceanu invited the trade union confederations on Tuesday (Oct 7) to take part in consultations at the Victoria Palace (the govt's offices – editor's note) on Friday, Government's spokeswoman Camelia Spataru announced.
"The head of the Executive launched an invitation to the big trade union confederations to attend a consultative meeting at the Victoria Palace on Friday. This meeting will address the topics that the Government and the trade unions are currently focusing on, including the implications of the developments in the global financial markets", Spataru explained.
She added the prime minister had sent a letter of congratulations to the big trade union confederations on the occasion of the International Day for Decent Work.
"The premier sent a message of congratulations to the big trade union confederations on the occasion of the International Day for Decent Work. The premier hailed the trade unions' initiative to mark this day, as he deemed such an initiative extremely adequate amid the current debates on providing all employees with the conditions of a decent living in keeping with Romania's status of a EU member" Spataru said.
