The share of damages due to the car insurance policies (RCA and Casco) in the total of pays extended in the first half of the year for non-specific insurance policies grew 10.5%, reaching 89.6% and totalled 1.69 billion lei, according to figures of the Insurance Surveillance Commission (CSA).
The value of damages paid by relevant companies for all the types of non-specific insurance policies was of 1.889 billion lei in the first six months of the year, up by 24.1% as against January-June 2007.
For road transport insurance policies, other than railway (class III, Casco), pays totalled 1.13 billion lei, accounting for 59.9% of the total of damages paid, up 6.6% as against the first 6 months of 2007.
In the case of auto civil liability policies (class X), known also as RCA insurance policies, insurers paid damages worth 561.68 million lei, accounting for 29.7% of the total pays.
Compared to the first 6 months of the previous year, the RCA damages reached 42.85% and their share grew 3.9%.
According to the figures supplied by the Insurance Surveillance Commission, the most important rise in the volume of damages was reported as regards the insurance of air transport (class V).
The growth was of 758.36% and the value of 21.15 million lei.
In the first half of the year, Astra insurance company entirely paid the compensation worth 10 million dollars for the damage emerged through the damaging of Tarom aircraft, on December 30, 2007 on Henri Coanda airport.
On the entire market, the pays extended for non-specific insurance policies accounted for 4.9%, up 0.5% as against June 2007.
The first half of this year, the European single currency was listed at the National Bank of Romanian for an average exchange rate of 3.6708 lei.
