Only 7% of projects submitted to EU approved by September 15

Approx. 7% of the projects submitted to get funds from the European Union under the 7 operational programmes were approved by September 15 and only 34% of those projects approved concluded financing agreements with the beneficiaries, according to data provided by the Ministry of Economy and Finance (MEF).
 
There were submitted 3,485 projects by September 15, worth 25.34 lei (approx. 7.04 billion euros), out of which 247 were approved, worth 6.90 billion lei (approximately 1.91 billion euros).
As much as 4.84 billion lei (approx. 1.34 billion euros) from this amount represents EU funds.
 
Moreover, according to Eugen Teodorovici, Secretary of State with MEF, there were concluded 84 financing agreements with beneficiaries, worth 1.74 billion lei (approx. 382 million euros). There were submitted 1,089 projects under the Regional Operational Programme by September 15, worth 810.4 million lei (209.40 million euros), out of which 586.6 million lei (approximately 162.9 million euros) European funds.
There were concluded 20 financing agreements, worth 575 million lei (approx. 160 million euros).
 
There were send for the approval of the European Commission (EC) under the Environment Sectorial Operational programme, approximately 9 major project worth 1.12 million euros, out of which there were approved 7 major projects in the field of rebuilding of the water and waste water systems, worth approx. 770 million euros.
 
According to Teodorovici, a single project was approved under this programme, worth 316 million lei (86 million euros). He also added that there are to be sent for approval another 2 major projects on the Priority Axis / DMI 1 / Development of the Waste Management Integrated Systems and Expansion of Waste Management Infrastructure, which were submitted in August, with their value reaching 360 million lei (93.02 million euros).
 
Before sending them to the EC, these projects are to be approved by the Management Authority.
Under the same programme, under the Priority Axis Technical Assistance there were contracted 16 projects worth more than 8 million lei (2.06 million euros), which represent contracts of public acquisitions.
At the same time, there were submitted 105 projects, worth 4.79 billion lei (1.23 billion euros), out of which 52 were approved, worth 3.44 billion lei (888 million euros).
