By reducing the university licence cycle from four to three years, some 260,000 graduates will enter the labour market, this year, double versus last year’s number, when Romanian faculties gave 125,000 graduates.
“The doubling in the number of graduates will not affect the local labour market significantly, it is not likely that salaries dwindle, “ said Madalina Uceanu, executive manager of recruiting company Aims Human Capital Romania.

Many specialists believe the big number of graduates this year will not have a strong impact on the local labour market, considering that many of them were working since studentship. So, 40-50 students, in terminal years, of the Academy of Economic Studies of Bucharest, have a job. Employers said that of concern was not so much the number of graduates, but their poor training at the end of faculty.

“I believe it is not so important for education in Romania to give a big number of graduates.Youth with high potential are needed, but the problem felt in the market, in the past years, has been a deficit in competence, “ said Daniel Toghina, human resource director Impact Developer & Contractor.

Money looks like being the main element most youths think of when they look for a job. A study made last year by research company Synovate said over 60% of youth said they “want to work for a high pay. “ Most of them want high salaries from the very beginning, they want pays of over 500 euros, even 1,000 euros, while companies in the market are offering 300-400 euros, on the average, for entry level.

Salaries for entry level advanced constantly, in the past years, against the background of a deficit of specialists and of the high number of jobs announced by companies. On the other hand, 73% of companies said they did not find skilled staff, reads a study of staff recruiting company Manpower.
