Loading ...Porsche Romania, the biggest player on the local car import market, which posted in 2007 more than 1 bln euros in turnover, announced a nine-month growth of 6 pct with 44,442 sold units this year, show company statistics. Porsche Romania director general Brent Valmar said that the importer’s sales this year will stand around some 58-60,000 units, up by several percentage points from 2007.
Skoda remains the best selling brand in the Porsche portfolio, with 20,144 traded cars, up by almost 20 pct from 2007. The models with the highest sales were Octavia II, with almost 8,000 units, followed by Octavia Tour with 5,544 units and the new Fabia – with more than 4,700 sold units.
Sales of Volkswagen cars kept on sliding in the first three quarters of the year, falling 5 pct to 15,672 units; the monthly decline was 10 pct in Sept., one of the steepest of all the brands represented by Porsche Romania. The importer will launch at mid November the sixth generation of the Golf model.
Volkswagen entered the second stage of the “Ramshackle” car fleet renewal program; sales in the first stage accounted for over 80 pct of the 2,159 units assigned. “The best selling model under the car fleet renewal program was Polo, followed by Golf and Jetta,” said VW brand director with Porsche Romania, Matei Albulescu, cited by Ziarul Financiar.
Polo tops VW sales with 3,641 units, a figure similar to that registered the year before, whereas Passat sales fell 26 pct. Volkswagen’s utility vehicles division advanced 21 pct to 3,158 sold units.
Sales over Jan- Sept. by Audi, the premium brand of the German concern, went up almost 10 pct to 2,247 units of the 2,900 planned for the entire year. The new A4 tops Audi sales, with 1,032 cars, whereas the planned total is 1,150 at year-end. In the first nine months of 2008 SEAT sold 3,126 cars, down 15 pct from 2007, whereas Porsche sold 95 units.
