Most Romanians, 44%, believe that the current financial crisis will have in Romania similar effects to the ones in the other European states, shows an INSOMAR survey conducted on Oct. 10-14.
Some 25% of the respondents believe Romania will suffer less than the other European states, while 24% say Romania will suffer more. Just 6% of the surveyed believe that Romania will not be affected by the crisis.
A large part of the Romanians, 43%, say the saving behaviour should not be changed, while 28% believe the money should be placed in the most solid and safe banks and 25% say one should keep only the amount guaranteed by the state in the banks.
When it comes to the safest saving methods, 28% of the Romanians choose bank deposits, while another 28% prefer to acquire real estate assets; 16% of the polled say the money should be kept at home.
The Romanian banks are trusted in by more than half the Romanians, with 53% of the surveyed saying they have much confidence in the banks.
The euro is the currency 49% of the Romanians have confidence in, while 40% of the polled say they trust the national leu currency and 3% say it is the U.S. dollar.
The survey was conducted on 1,243 persons from 49 cities and 53 rural communities from all over Romania, Bucharest included. Its maximum admitted error is 3%.
