Romania to host RAMSAR Convention in 2012

Romania is to host in 2012 the Convention on Wetlands of International Importance, with the Habitat for Wetlands Birds as focus point, known as RAMSAR Convention.
 
"A letter of intention presented by us was accepted by the Convention, so that, as a first, I announce you that in Spring 2012, when the environment issues will be more acute than today's, a new RAMSAR Convention will take place at the Parliament Palace", pointed out ARBDD Governor.
 
The Convention on Wetlands of International Importance, with focus on the Wetlands Birds Habitat, known as RAMSAR Convention, was adopted in Ramsar city, in Iran, in 1971 and entered into force at the end of 1975, is an inter-governmental treaty which ensures the framework for international cooperation in the field of wetlands conservation.
 
Romania is part of this Convention, according to Law No. 5 of January 25, 1991, the Danube Delta being the only zone in Romania RAMSAR designated.
