The Board of the Insurance Supervisory Commission (CSA) has decided to diminish the contribution quotas owed by insurers from insurance brokers as of 1 January 2009.
The value of the operation tax paid by insurance and insurance brokers is modified from 0.5% at present to 0.4% for 2009.
The contribution of the insurers allowed to sell mandatory car (RCA) insurance is cut from 1.25% to 1.10% for 2009.
The contribution of the insurers allowed to sell RCA insurance to the Protection Fund of Street Victims decreases from 1,5% to 0,5% for 2009.
The level of the insurers’ contribution to the Guarantee Fund for 2009 remains unchanged – 0.3% for life insurance and 0.8% for general insurance.
CSA president Angela Toncescu said: “In the context of CSA’s strengthening the capacity of supervising prudentially the activity of the insurers and insurance brokers, and the continuous development of the market, we consider the decision to lower these quotas is normal. I have the conviction this decision of the CSA Board will be well received by all the players on the Romanian insurance market and it will contribute to the consolidation of this financial sector”, said CSA president Angela Toncescu.
