The net profit of the Oil Terminal Constanta company (on the Black Sea coast in southeastern Romania) dropped nearly 5 times in the first 9 months this year compared to the same period of 2007.
According to the financial data submitted to the Bucharest Stock Exchange (BVB), the net profit of the company reached 1.51 million lei after the first nine months of 2008, while in the same period last year the company posted a net profit of 7.3 million lei.
From January to September 2008, Oil Terminal recorded revenues worth 99.7 million lei and expenditures amounting to 97.8 million lei. The company’s turnover stood at 97.9 million lei.
On September 30, 2008 the company had overdue payments totalling 31.4 million lei and accounts receivable worth 16.9 million lei.
Oil Terminal Constanta has a strategic location in the Black Sea area, being the largest operator on sea, specialized in handling of crude oil, petroleum and liquid chemical products, other products and raw materials for import/export and transit.
The company is one of the largest terminals in Southeastern Europe and was set up in 1898 under the name Steaua Romana (Romanian Star), having functioned under various names until 1990.
It was renamed S.C. Oil Terminal SA Constanta in 1990, based on law 31/1990, by Romanian Government Decision no. 1200/12.11.1990, set as a joint-stock company running mainly on Romanian state capital.
