Romania's most important winemakers shared the awards of the 5th edition of the Romanian Wine Gala organized by the National Vine Growers and Wine Producers Association of Romania.
The award for the wine winning the largest number of medals in international contests went to the Murfatlar Wine Grower for its Lacrima lui Ovdiu 12 (Ovid's Tear) that had won 2 gold, three silver medals, whereas its Zestrea Murfatlar received the medal for the most sought-after origin red wine.
Cotnari was awarded the prize for the best selling sparkling origin white wine for the Grasa de Cotnari, while the Jidvei Vineyards won the prize with its Margaritar Alb fizzy wine and another prize for the largest new vineyards (250 ha).
Recas Wine Cellars won the prize for the most important Romanian wine exporter for its Frunza (the Leaf), a bestseller on the UK market.
Carl Reh Winery winemaker received the award for the best promotion campaign for its Limited Edition Erotikon, while Vincon Vrancea won a prize for its newly launched Levant wine range.
Cezar Ioan, a journalist with the vinul.ro received the prize for the best wine writer of the year.
Dealu Mare Domains were designated the newest winemaker that entered the Romanian market.
