Romania’s President Traian Basescu stated on November 17, in Craiova (south), at the end of the meeting with Ford Co. management that the investment will continue under new conditions of crediting, with more expensive credits, reason why he was keen to hold talks both with the management and with trade union representatives.
Basescu said that the trade union gave assurances that during this period it will act as a manager’s partner, to create the necessary conditions, so that the first vehicles will be made in Craiova in the second half of next year.
Basescu also said that obligations assumed by the Government is another subject in the management’s attention, as well as of the Government’s, they being focused on the improvement of road infrastructure and support to labor force re-training or for adapting the re-trained labor force to new technologies.
“Investment in Ford Craiova goes on and next year, in the second half, we will have the first made Ford car in Craiova, fact for which I wish to address my thanks to investors”, stated Basescu.
The head of state also said that as regards the new staff hiring by Ford just the re-training of actual staff is under way and a new training staff module is to be implemented in December. But at present there is no question of massive hiring by Ford.
According to Basescu, most likely, Ford will start to hire more staff after the plant is to start production.
