Information in English

Dacia carmaker halts production over November 20 – December 7 because of the brutal shrinkage in the automotive markets.

Following the decline of the situation on the auto markets, as regards exports, but especially on its main market, Romania, a situation which seems to take longer than expected, and in order to avoid to increase stocks, Dacia car maker is compelled to halt the production in the aforementioned period. Only the activity of the CKD (collections of car parts) will continue, the company stressed.

The employees that will stay at home because of the halt in the production will receive 85 percent of the total gross wage, according to the Collective Labour Contract Dacia 2008. At the same time, they will receive luncheon vouchers due to the days of ceasing the activity, vouchers which they received in advance.
The deepening of the financial and economic crisis in October leads to a major shrinkage in the automotive markets, Romanian included. The automotive markets shrank in October 2008 as against October 2007 in Romania by some 30%.

Considering the world market went down by 9% in October 2008 compared to the same period of the previous year, Dacia’s exports grew by 20.2%.
Dacia exported as many as 23,794 cars in October 2008, respectively 142,124 cars in the first 10 months of 2008. Of these, as many as 35,329 cars were sold in France.
Although Dacia car is a success when it comes to exports, the rise in the market shares cannot balance the massive reduction of auto markets in Europe, says the company.

The sales of Dacia cars in Europe grew 125% in October 2008, compared to October 2007 and cumulated in the first 10 months of the year they went up 43.7% as against the same period of the previous year.
The registrations of Dacia cars in France grew by 42.1% in the first 10 months of the incumbent year, as against the same period of the previous year and Dacia holds the first place in the ranking of the ten first brands in France.

Dacia also exported in the aforementioned period to Germany as many as 21,164 units, in Ukraine 12,082 cars, in Algeria as many as 10,946 units, in Italy as many as 6,762 units, in Spain 5,515 units and in the Netherlands 4,057 units.
Dacia reached market shares worth 1.72% in France, 1.71% in Austria, 1.08% in Germany, 0.92 in Switzerland, 0.84% in the Netherlands and reached significant market shares of 28.6% in the Republic of Moldova, 14.9% in Morocco, 10.5% in Belarus and 10% in Mali.
This year, Dacia has started to export to Greece, where it delivered 327 units over August-October and in Portugal where it delivered 309 units.
