“We are in an estate of emergency, not an effective crisis, but we have to do something, not to expect to enter the intensive care section. The rise in the section of import is Romanians’ option for more expensive cars. Alarming is I think the high number of used cars which entered the country,” said vice-president of Automobile Dacia Constantin Stroe.
Alin Tapalaga, general manager of Porsche Inter Auto, division of retail of importer Porsche Romania said that the relatively low diminution of sales in 10 months is prompted in fact by the very good results reported before the outbreak of the crisis.
Over January-October, 2008, the sales of domestic carmaker Automobile Dacia went down 13.1% as against the same period of the previous year, reaching 67.772 units.
At the same time, the market of new cars went down in the aforementioned d interval by 5.7 percent, reaching 243,475 units, according to APIA figures.
On the other hand, the demand for imported cars increased 1.9%, reaching 169,000 units.
