Gamesa to invest in Romanias wind energy

Spanish wind turbine maker Gamesa plans to invest 750 million euros to have wind parks built in Romania, their capacity totaling about 500 MW, and this after having analyzed about ten locations to have wind parks built in, the Business Standard writes. Each park is to put out 40MW and the whole capacity is to exceed 500 MW.
 
These are Greenfield projects that Gamesa plans to start, but it also eyes future acquisition of projects from the local developers, the newspaper reads. The Company’s specialized division, Gamesa Energia develops wind farms, operates them at the beginning and sells them as turnkey projects to third parties. But it also owns wind parks that it exploits.
 
It is not known yet the policy Gamesa is to adopt in Romania, the Business Standard reads, adding that the Company has been investigating the business opportunities on the Romanian market since 2006.
Gamesa’s portfolio includes wind energy parks in countries such as the USA, Italy, Germany, Greece, and Portugal, and plans to expand to Eastern Europe, to countries such as Romania and Bulgaria, “which have a considerable medium and long-term wind energy potential, the Business Standard concludes.
