Cefin Romania holding company, the most important dealer of Iveco motor vehicles in Europe, will invest 20 million euros in the coming five years in the enlargement of its truck servicing network, said data the company sent to Rompres.
The strategy for the network’s consolidation includes the moving of older servicing units, from Pitesti, Ploiesti, southern Romania, Galati, east, and Arad, west, to new, modern locations, meeting current requirements.
The relocation from Galati started in 2008, and the investment will exceed 4.5 million euros, said Ovidiu Vlad, general manager Eurobody Co., specializing in building body works and metal structures for trucks. In 1998, Vlad kick started the first Iveco servicing unit in Romania, under the “umbrella” of Cefin.
“A first decade of activity has passed, we have repaired over 100,000 trucks in this period,“ said Vlad.
In 2008, Cefin Romania marks the anniversary of a decade since the opening of the first servicing unit of its own, an activity which has essentially contributed to a hike in sales, to rendering customers faithful, to a rise in revenues.
“The Cefin Iveco servicing was, at that moment, a pioneering activity in Romania, bringing in a first, in this market, the concept of brand servicing, along with professional services, which has prompted radical changes in the view of companies operating in the market of transport services,“ said officials from Cefin.
The entire Cefin business has been, for a start, a view of Italian businessman Stefano Albaroso, CEO of a company which has turned into a holding, with activities in Romania, Bulgaria and Hungary. Albaroso figured out, back in 1995, that the Romanian transport industry has had a high potential, which has started to be seen at European level.
In the same year, his family and the Orecchias laid the foundations of Cefin Romania, which has been marketing spare parts for Iveco trucks, under the name European Truck Center. In parallel with this activity, developed was the importation of Iveco trucks, and so was their sales. The Italian brand has made a name for itself in a market dominated by German and Swedish brands, firstly. In two years, only, the sales of trucks doubled, so, in 1997, the need was felt to build a servicing unit, equipped and boasting services at Iveco standards.
“Until the end of this year, we will open three new locations, two truck servicing centers in Targu-Mures, center, and Suceava, north, and an integrated unit, of sales and servicing, in Buzau, south.
As a whole, the Cefin investment in servicing has amounted, in the course of years, to over 20 million euros.
Currently, the network covers ten cities, it employs over 300 people (compared with 46 at the end of 1999), with the activity totaling over 310,000 hours, and generating a turnover worth some 25 million euros. Now, we can say we have hit a record, with some 1000 truck repaired on a daily basis, double that in the year 2004, “ said the manager of Eurobody Co., of Cefin Romania holding.
