Final bids for construction on Comarnic-Brasov motorway segment (central) are to be submitted until January 5, 2009, with the date having been postponed from December 15 at the request of the companies involved that needed a longer interval for technical clarifications, according to the Transportation Ministry.

This is in fact the second such postponement, after the initial term, November 17, was prolonged until December 15.
The consortium that are still running for the contract are Vinci (France), and Aktor Greece, Colas and Bouygues (France), Bilfinger Berger (Germany)-Porr (Austria) and Strabag (Austria).

There were initially submitted 12 bids for the construction on Comarnic-Brasov segment, large construction companies associating to have more chances to win.
According to CNANDR, the winner of the construction agreement will design, build and maintain the motorway for approx. 30 years, with the design and construction works having been estimated at some 1 billion euros (VAT not included).

Taking into account that this segment is to be licensed, and depending on the licensing modality, either a tax will be imposed by the consortium winning the agreement, to those using the road, either the Romanian state will directly pay the company during the license interval, with the total costs to reach approx. 3 billion euros.

The Comarnic-Brasov segment is to measure 58-km in length and to have 57 bridges, passages and viaducts, as well as services areas. The motorway will be designed for such speeds between 80 and 120 kilometres per hour.
