The building of the Paris- Vienna- Bucharest- Constanta railways grid for high speed trains (TGV), the Nabuco Gas Pipeline and the achievement of a pole of competitiveness or the joint projects in the aircraft and defense industry represent the business opportunities the Romanian French cooperation provides, Romania's Foreign Minister Cristian Diaconescu said during his meeting with the French business environment officials, in Paris, on Monday.

France is Romania's third big commercial partner and the fourth strategic investor and first partner in institutional twinning between Romanian and French localities, ForMin Diaconescu specified on the occasion. The French direct investments in Romania have already exceeded 2 billion euros and France represents an attractive market for the Romanian exports, ForMin Diaconescu told the French business people.

The increase in the EU funds absorption level, the non-taxable reinvested profit and the capitalization of two state-run banks, namely CEC Bank and Eximbank and the rise in the exports boosting funds are among the economic measures the Bucharest Government have in view, Romania's top diplomat said. And all this given that the flat tax quota of 16% is preserved. Foreign Minister Cristian Diaconescu paid a working visit to Paris, over Sunday and Monday, at the invitation of his French counterpart Bernard Kouchner.

The Romanian top diplomat met presidential diplomatic advisor Jean-David Levitte and the officials of the French business milieu interested in investing or consolidating their presence on the Romanian market.
The visit happened under the auspices of the privileged relationship between Romania and France, marked by the Joint Declaration on the Strategic Partnership between France and Romania that the presidents of the two countries signed in Bucharest, in February 2008, and the special prospects the bilateral cooperation opens at the political, security, economic, technological, environmental, cultural scientific and educational levels in compliance with the road map's provisions, Romanian Foreign Ministry (MAE) sources inform.
