The Italian authorities appreciate their cooperation with the Romanian Police, Italian Police head Antonio Manganelli said on Wednesday, thanking General Inspector Petre Toba for the special support the Romanian Police Inspectorate General (IGPR) has been offering each time, reads an IGPR release.

"The Romanian police deployed on mission to Italy are extraordinary. They directly participated in the investigation, they conducted with extreme professionalism hearings of suspects which resulted in the full confession of the crime,' Antonio Manganelli said in a telephone conversation referring to the recent rape incident occurred in Italy.
According to the IGPR release, "the Italian official confirmed that the Romanians, actually the entire Romanian community living in Italy integrated well with the Italian society and its members are hard-working, trustworthy people and good neighbors.'

IGPR head Petre Toba thanked Manganelli for the appreciation expressed and assured him of the full support of the Romanian Police, underscoring once again that the common goal is to identify and arrest offenders and hand down punishments commensurate to the seriousness of the offence. The official conversation of the two Police heads took place in presence of Paolo Sartori, Italy's home affairs attaché accredited to Bucharest and of Police chief-commissioner Dumitru Zabou, head of the IGPR European Affairs, Programs and International Cooperation Department.

Alongside the Italian authorities, the Romanian Police Inspectorate General is organizing between Feb. 14 – April 15 a new ITARO mission aimed at providing support and assistance to the Italian Police in handling cases involving Romanian citizens and facilitating the exchange of information for crime prevention and combat. The goals of the Romanian police mission to Italy are to curtail the number of crimes perpetrated by Romanian citizens in Italy and of related crimes involving Romanians.
