Loading ...Foreign Minister Cristian Diaconescu on Monday will take part in a meeting of the Council for General Affairs and External Relations (GAERC) in Brussels. The meeting will start with the General Affairs session, under which the European Council's spring agenda will be approved and talks will be held on the European economic recovery plan, with an emphasis on priority projects in the field of energy, reads a MAE release.
The agenda the Foreign Relations session includes the EU-Afghanistan cooperation, the evolutions in Afghanistan, and the situation in the Middle East with an emphasis on humanitarian aid and reconstruction in the Gaza Strip. At the working breakfast, the European foreign ministries will focus on the Eastern Partnership, the Western Balkans and the evolutions in the area. Moreover, a EU-Albania Ministerial Troika meeting, EU-Lebanon Association Council and EU-Council of Europe meeting will be held within the GAERC.
The latest GAERC meeting was held at the end of January, when issues related to energy security and the situation in the Middle East were approached. On Monday evening, after the meeting in Brussels, the Romanian Foreign Minister will go to Rome, at the invitation of his counterpart Franco Frattini, to discuss the situation of the Romanians in Italy.
