Minister Monica Iacob-Ridzi participates in setting up of committee on organizing EYOF 2013

The Olympic sports complex at Izvorani (near Bucharest), late last week, hosted the meeting meant to set up the committee on organizing the European Youth Olympic Festival (EYOF) 2013, which will be held in Romania, in the Prahova Valley (southern Romania), reads a release of the Ministry of Youth and Sports. Practically, on Friday, they started organizing this international sports event, which will be held in Romania.
 
Together with Minister of Youth and Sports Monica Iacob-Ridzi and Secretary of State with the same Ministry Octavian Bellu also attending were chairman of the Romanian Sports Olympic Committee Octavian Morariu and representatives of the Ministry of Administration and the Interior, the Ministry of Transports and Infrastructure, the Ministry of Regional Development and Housing, the Ministry of Tourism, the Ministry of the Environment and the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Rural Development, all these institutions being involved in the good organization and development of the festival.
 
They were also joined by the mayors of Brasov (central Romania), Predeal (southern Romania), Rasnov (central Romania), Sinaia, Busteni and Azuga (the three of them in southern Romania), towns and cities that will offer the necessary sports and tourist infrastructure, as well as by representatives of the winter sports federations: biathlon skiing, skating, bob-sleighing and sledging, and ice hockey. Romania will host the winter European Youth Olympic Festival in 2013, the location selected being the Prahova Valley.
 
About 1,500 sports people from over 45 countries will attend. They will be accompanied by their coaches and the technical staff. The EYOF is organized by the European Olympic Committees under the patronage of the European Olympic Committee. Young people aged between 13 and 18 can take part in this competition that includes several events. The 9th winter European Youth Olympic Festival (EYOF 2009) was held this year in Poland, in the region of Slask-Beskidy, over February 15-20.
