Information in English

Romanian market of leasing might register in 2009, on the backdrop of the current evolution of the Romanian economy and of unfavorable international circumstances, a decline ranging between 20 and 30 percent as against 2008, when it amounted to 4.817 billion euros, estimated the Financial Companies Association in Romania – ALB. The association reports that the auto leasing will account for 75 percent in the overall financing, whereas the real estate leasing will account for 21 percent and the industrial leasing – 4 percent.

The Romanian leasing market fell in 2008 by 2.6 percent from the previous year, amounting to 4.817 billion euros, according to data presented on Tuesday in a press conference by representatives of ALB Romania. In 2007, the domestic leasing market amounted to 4.948 billion euros. Vehicle acquisition leasing showed last year a rise of 1 percent from 2007, reaching 3.383 billion euros from 3.36 billion euros in 2007.

Real estate leasing was the worst affected segment in 2008, falling 24 percent from 2007, amounting to 351.83 million euros compared to 461 million euros the previous year. According to ALB, the real estate leasing market was significantly affected by the international crisis, starting July last year, to which some local factors were added – a high taxation degree and non-acceptance of an accelerated redemption of the leasing contract. The industrial leasing segment showed a decline of 4 percent, from 1.126 billion euros in 2007 to 1.082 billion euros last year.
