Loading ...The overall debts to loans reached 3.53 billion lei (822.7 million euros) on January 31, up 23 percent compared to December 2008, the share of unpaid debts in the overall volume of extended loans going up to 1.7 percent, according to statistics of the National Bank of Romania (BNR). The outstanding debts to the loans in lei totaled 2.07 lei in January and 340.7 million euros in foreign currency.
Compared to the same month of 2008, the overall volume of the population's debts and of companies went up in January 178 percent. The debts in lei grew in January by 197 million lei, as against the previous month, to 2.07 billion lei, and those in foreign currency grew by 91.4 million euros to 340.7 million euros. On January 31, 2009, the overall balance of loans – companies and individuals was of 17.488 billion lei, of which 17.238 represented ongoing installments.
