Loading ...Minister of Foreign Affairs Cristian Diaconescu who is paying a working visit to Germany proposed on Wednesday to some German officials the establishment of joint governmental committees with the aim of promoting projects of mutual interest in the economic field, transport, internal affairs and cultural field, the Romanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs informs. The proposals were met with high interest, pending the designation of responsible people for their setting-up.
Romania has at present similar joint committees with the lands of Bavaria and Baden-Wurttemberg, reads the aforementioned source. The head of the Romanian diplomacy had meetings with PM of lands of Hessen and Renania-Palatinat, Roland Koch and Kurt Beck, as well as with chairman of Parliament of Renania-Palatinat, and with Vice-Premier and Interior Minister of Renania Land, Karl Peter Bruch.
At the talks he held on Wednesday, the Romanian Minister of Foreign Affairs also tackled the issue of Danubian cooperation. In the context, Cristian Diaconescu emphasized the Romanian-Austrian initiative for a European Strategy on the Danube River, which in the focus of attention of the European Commission.
Romania is interested in Germany's expertise in the accession of European funds,' said the Romanian minister. The German side expressed availability of cooperating in this field, with a concrete way of collaborating due to be established. The Romanian Minister of Foreign Affairs Cristian Diaconescu will attend, after the visit to Germany, the informal meeting of foreign affairs ministers of NATO member states in Brussels.
