Romanian gov’t has no plans to extend retirement age for now

5 martie 2009

Information in English

The Government has not plans to extend the retirement age for now, Prime Minister Emil Boc told the public radio station on Thursday (March 5).
When asked about such an initiative, the prime minister stressed the Executive does not have any draft legislation on this issue on its agenda at this moment.

"We do not have such a project on the Government's immediate agenda. Of course there are all sorts of scenarios and analyses on the level of the macroeconomic policies, but at this moment we do not have a project to this end on the Government's table", Boc said.
The Government, while making this anti-crisis effort, is trying not to put those socially vulnerable in danger, he underscored.
